A New Creature

Summoners are creatures available in the recent new expansion of ARK: Survival Evolved Genesis: Part 2. Summoners patrol the Rockwell’s Entrails Biome. They are extremely aggressive when their attention is aroused, first teleporting in front of the assaulted survivor with a loud scream.

The Summoners float around, patrolling the inhospitable Rockwell’s Entrails Biome, they fly half-open so that they produce a spotlight. Whenever a survivor dares to approach the spotlight, the Summoner will go into attack mode. When in “attack mode”, the Summoner will fire projectiles at the target, but while doing so it will be completely invulnerable. Sometimes, the Summoner fires a globular projectile at the ground. This projectile summons a set of creatures that fight alongside the Summoner. The summoned creatures vary from Brontosaurus to Purlovia.

The Attack Mode

Normally, after using an attack or after a certain period of time, the Summoner drops his shield and becomes vulnerable. The shield will reactivate over time or when a 25% damage threshold is reached. This means that he will always activate the shield at 75%, 50% and 25% health. These damage thresholds cannot be exceeded, which means that a low level Summoner can take as long to die as a high level Summoner. Each time Mutagen is collected in the biome, 2 maximum level Summoners appear to attack the responsible party.

How to Fight Them

It is highly recommended to avoid them at all costs. If you find yourself in the crosshairs of a Summoner, the best thing to do is to run, but be prepared to face the Summoner’s creatures. Shooting their summoning projectile before it falls can prevent their summons from appearing. If you have long-range weapons available, you can fight him, but since it takes a while due to his shield mechanics, it is ill-advised unless you are able to miraculously handle all the other hostile creatures in the area. It is advisable to carry a high-end firearm, such as a pump shotgun or Tek rifle, to deal with the summoned creatures.

Killing the Summoner also removes all creatures summoned by that particular Summoner. Apart from their summons, the Summoner’s damage is not that high. They also don’t have the shield when patrolling. If you hit the Summoner before it discovers you, you will reduce the shield drop phases by one.
