Shadowmane is the true predator in ARK: Survival Evolved. With the release of the most recent expansion Genesis: Part 2, the creature found its way into the game. The Shadowmane is a chimera and visually reminds us of a cross between a cat and a lion. The Shadowmane combat power is comparable to that of the Tyrannosaurus, making it perfect as a boss killer. In addition, the creature can camouflage itself, which means we can perform surprise attacks and ambush our enemies.

Although the Shadowmane reminds us of a cat, these magnificent creatures are not afraid of water at all, on the contrary: they are excellent swimmers, on their backs you can overcome any body of water quickly. And as if that weren’t enough, you won’t suffer any fall damage when jumping from great heights on the Shadowmane’s back. With so many strengths, it’s no wonder that taming it is no easy task. Especially since the predator must be tamed passively.

In both PvE and PvP, despite their small size, Shadowmane brings great benefits and are indispensable in many combats. Their unique cocktail of powerful stats, passives, and abilities allows them to cover a wide variety of utilities, making any tribe want to take the time to properly tame and breed these ferocious carnivores. Shadowmane can quickly occupy a prime position in your creature collection.

The area where we can find a Shadowmane is quite large and extends throughout the southwest of the map “The Corrupted Gardens” of ARK: Genesis Part 2. They can also be found in the northwest, often in groups of three.

Below we will highlight a checklist with items and issues to consider when taming a Shadowmane for the first time. For even experienced ARK survivors must be extremely careful when taming the Shadowmane:

  • Carry enough fish traps with you.
  • Wear a ghillie suit.
  • Use insect repellent.
  • Avoid Shadowmane in groups, try to tame a lone Shadowmane.
  • Tame the creature during the day when it sleeps.
  • Make sure there are no other predators nearby.
  • Flee quickly when the Shadowmane wakes up.

With these seven tips, you will be much safer and have a better chance of taming a Shadowmane to add to your arsenal of dangerous creatures that will accompany you on your adventure.
