The Exo-Mek is the successor to the Mek in the new expansion Genesis: Part 2 of ARK: Survival Evolved. The Federation Exo-Mek is a sort of utilitarian work suit for the crew to pilot on and off the starship. They are good for repairs, heavy lifting, and are tough enough to take external damage. So you can see at a glance how these could be really useful, especially considering how fragile humans are and how many deadly hazards exist in the ARK universe.
The Exo-Mek has four different operating modes:
Combat Mode.
The Exo-Mek adopts a bare-knuckle combat stance. It is capable of direct punches as well as a hammer blow to the ground. Although it has less attack power than its predecessor, it is still a reliable vehicle for close combat.
Storage mode
With this mode activated, the Exo-Mek extends its right hand outward, allowing it to absorb tribal or player-owned structures, storing them in its virtual storage module. Excellent for transferring base components during a move to a different location.
Transport Mode
The Exo-Mek squats in a transport position, capable of lifting several Structures and placing them elsewhere (similar to the initial construction of a Structure). Note, however, that objects to be placed on foundations still comply with this rule, even when carried by the MEK. This is the perfect way to move storage units (such as vaults or coolers) to a more spacious and accessible location, as any storage structure you pick up will not destroy or drop any of the objects it contains. He also cannot pick up Foundations.
With one of the highest weight stats among creatures and vehicles, Exo-Mek can quickly transport heavy loads of resources in any storage unit (a vault is ideal) or be able to cling to a storage unit indefinitely if it has Element. If the Exo-Mek is in tandem with the Desert Titan, the best resource harvesters and a defense force to defend them all, players can amass resources equivalent to what they could have made in years in mere hours.
RTS Mode
A unique feature boasted by this vehicle, the Exo-Mek can activate a bird’s eye view of the surrounding area, highlight nearby domes, and issue orders to move to a location or attack a specific unit. A vital feature for when traditional whistling proves slow, counterproductive, or inconvenient. This can work especially well during Titan battles.
In addition to all the modes mentioned above, the Exo-Mek is capable of manufacturing Tek objects inside, similar to a Tek replicator.
Exit the RTS mode with the middle mouse button. If linked with this key, it appears to be disabled so that it will not run again until the default settings are restored.
Possible uses for the Exo-Mek:
Egg Thief: The Exo-Mek is very useful for obtaining eggs from either the Gen 1 Volcano or the Rock Drake Eggs. Its ability to travel in hostile environments without attracting the aggressiveness of the natives is very useful if you're in AB carry along a light pet to protect against namelessness. Note also that the Exo-Mek is protected against Gen 1 Volcanic Eruptions like the saddle of a Magmasaurus. Generally pilot the Mek to the desired egg, use the first person to find out if the egg is the one you want, and then quickly jump, grab and board the Mek, by the time the parent dino has assaulted you, as your access to the super jump, as well as your great mobility, is of great use in getting out of range of native dino aggression.
Domestication aid: Getting to a place where you want to tame is quite useful with the Exo-Mek as no hostile dino in the game will aggro on you, however, please note that do not approach a dino, for example, a giga if it aggroed on another dino as even though the giga does not pay any attention to you when it bites into your approach if your too close it will destroy your exo-mek. However, if you approach a dino that is not aggroed by anything, you can simply build a trap around the dino, or even set up a taming pen near the preferred dino before jumping out of your suit to tranquilize it.
Ocean Scout: Like the Enforcer, the Exo-Mek can run at full speed underwater, but it can also swim by jumping. Coupled with the fact that it doesn’t aggro anything in the ocean at all, it can easily explore the ocean biomes with ease and even go to the looting sea drop.
Radiation immunity: The Exo-Mek takes no damage in the red zone of Ab or Val, allowing you to use it to explore radiated areas and potentially set up bases in them without paying attention to the native dinos.
