Black Pearls are needed to get Tek equipment. What is Tek equipment? The best weapons, armor, and tools in the entire survival game ARK: Survival Evolved, and therefore the most difficult to craft. The ARK: Survival Evolved tech tree is impressive. Although the order of ARK’s technology is a bit confusing, the appeal of starting our adventure with the most basic technology and being able to finish with equipment comparable to the suit of Iron Man, a very powerful and endearing Marvel Comics superhero, is undeniable.
Once the player masters relatively modern technology, his next target will be Tek-level equipment. Tek objects are the futuristic equipment, shown in the game’s promotional art, and are the final manufacturing frontier of ARK: Survival Evolved. But, as expected in end-game gear, building Tek-level objects is no easy task. The blueprints are only found in the Extinction and Genesis expansions, and their crafting recipes require several extremely rare resources to obtain, one of the most complicated being black pearls.
There are several ways to get black pearls, but the easiest way is to collect them after hunting ARK creatures. The ones that can drop black pearls are the Alpha Deathworm, Alpha Mosasaur, Alpha Tusoteuthis, Ammonite, Deathworm, Eurypterid, Trilobite, and Tusoteuthis. Corrupted enemies on the Extinction map can also drop black pearls. Only Alpha creatures drop a considerable amount, so it may be necessary to spend quite a bit of time hunting these creatures to gather the necessary ones. Also, keep in mind that players must have certain prerequisites to be able to collect them effectively.
Several of ARK’s maps have areas where black pearls appear naturally. Just as standard clams can give silica pearls, special black clams can give players black pearls. These can only be found on the Aberration map, the Crystal Isles map, the Ragnarok map, and the Valguero map. The Aberration map is the least ideal, as the clams are found in the Grave of the Lost radioactive zone.
